Default Engine cut out

Sitting in my car in car park, engine running, heater on,next thing engine cuts out.so restarts right away and runs for about 3/4 minutes and cuts out again.set off home but after half mile engine cuts out but restarts a few times, but then engine was just turning over but not starting, after each time the engine cut out I could hear a faint intermittent buzzing sound from around the bulkhead area for around 6/7 bleeps.had to get RACout for a piggy back.in tank pump was replaced around 6 years ago have done app 60k since, the longer I leave to start the longer the engine will run,but after more attempts the shorter the running time.any ideas is it another in tank pump,or something else, plems are bone dry,did have an issue with water leak in in boot, but think I sorted that.thanks Tom.

Seems like a reaction to something getting hot.

Could be your crank sensor.

Crank sensor is possible, but I’d be looking at fuel levels, but from the brief description I’d probably consider the UBP firstly.

Hmm, a faint buzzing sound eh? sounds like the fuel pump output driver on the ECM is on it's way out.

Are you sure the plenums are definitely dry? does the buzzing noise/cutting out coincide with a flickering oil pressure warning lamp?

Let us know what you find

Some facelifts have 2 pumps, it’s not registration date that indicates single pump system, but build date/Vin order
His avatar says Rover 75 cdti conn F/lift
He didn’t say at any point he had no underbonnet pump, he did say he heard buzzing from the bulkhead area, indicating the possibility of a pump.

T4 session required for a accurate diagnosis

Ah I see now sorry missed post #4 but is he sure it has no UBP as I’ve had many facelift owners say “it’s a facelift it only has one pump” only a VIN will confirm this, seem strange he’s getting a buzzing from a area where a UBP is located.
