![]() I am after some ZR advice, my son has a 55 plate ZR 1.4, but we have noticed that selecting gears 1 and 2 the gear stick is very stiff, but gears 3 and 4 are smooth and fine, 5 and reverse are also a little stiff.
The gear selection has always been like a spoon in a bucket of treacle, even after it had a new clutch. Car drives fine, no noises from gear box etc, just the selection is stiff? Could this be a tight linkage and some grease would free it up? ![]() All advice welcome. |

![]() Hi
I had similar sounding issues with my ZS - presume linkage arrangement under the gear stick is same/similar on ZR? If so, removing the built-up gunk and regreasing resolved for me. Hope your issue is as easy. |

![]() There's a ball joint on the IB5 gear box linkage at the base of the gear lever that wears. It can be replaced I believe.
