There is nothing in the service information about enabling or disabling it, only altering the sensitivity between GAL 1 and GAL 4.

GAL number
I have changed this to 4 but does not seem to make any difference. Is there a kbus conection required on the back of the radio to enable it. I Thought I read in a previous message it could be enabled or disabled. If so how

It is via the K Bus, the White/Red/Yellow cables in the 20 pin mini ISO connector.

iirc the speed related volume mode only works where the unit was factory fitted.

Actually Mike, mine was retrofitted and the speed related volume still works. I think the key is getting the mini-iso connector in the right order on the back of the Symphony (soom looms have the mini-iso blocks joined together incorrectly). This allows the K-BUS signal to be sent to the unit where the speed signal can be interpreted and used accordingly.

I don't think you can get the mini ISO connectors in the wrong order. They join together in the order of, Yellow/Green/Blue.. It would not be possible for them to be plugged into the radio in a different order. The pins would not line -up.. The K bus signal is connected to pin 19 on the blue mini ISO. Dave T |

Maybe it wasn't the actual plugs then Dave - something on mine was a bit funny anyway but I can't remember now what it was....
