Default Just a reminder to everyone to check the plenum

Check those plenums, today I found my yellow tourer had a little bit of water in the tube. Nothing to serious but if I'd waited a few more days the obvious would have happened.

So just a reminder....check them
I check mine once a fortnight and in that time it was already starting to block up. Going to do it weekly now. Surprisingly the blue ZT was ok

Good advice - Once a week and whenever we have had heavy rain is my routine. SWMBO thinks I am mad as I have on a couple of occasions gone out in the rain with my extendable torch - which makes the job so easy!

These Torches are available from most builders merchants - they have magnetic bases and heads, extendable core with a flexible end (so you can attach it to the bonnet and extend down into the chamber)

They retail at about a fiver and are worth their weight in gold - not just for this but finding a dropped widget and retrieving it!

My home made shields have helped a great deal - amazing what leaves etc get caught by them - but even with these - the tube still blocks and twice after rain I have found an inch or so of water in the bottom of the chamber.

Easily dealt with via rodding - but ignoring it and the resulting disaster is not worth contemplating.

While changing my pollen filter last week I did a soak test on the chamber and I was shocked at how filthy and bunged up it all was. It took 3 attempts with the hose and my barrel cleaner to clean the plenum and the draintube out thoroughly. I reckon I caught it just in time.

So, does it still fill up even with the Jules plenum guard?

I made my own out of flexi garden mesh, cut to size, but you would be amazed by what tiny bits get in....build up and then cause a blockage, however my ZT hasn't got one and yet I don't ever seem to find it getting blocked up???? I've also noted that the loom doesn't help because it can bend round near the plenum hole, on my ZT I've cable tied the loom to prevent it sitting near the plenum hole and that seems to have helped......it's a strange world mate
