VIS Tester Now Available.
Thanks to a Generous Donation from Stocktake,
The Club now has its own VIS Tester for use by members. This unit will be available for Loan to check VIS Valves for SUBSCRIBED Members Only. The Only Cost being Postage if you cannot get to a Local Meet where one is often Available. In the First Instance please Send Your Details to Myself, Please don't all rush at once. It will be sent out in order of requests received. It will need to be signed for on Delivery. It is a Simple procedure, and checks both the Power and Balance VIS Motors. The VIS Motors are only fitted to the V6 Petrol Engines not in the Diesel Variants of our Cars.
There are two of these motors in the Manifold one Power Motor and one Balance Motor. When either of these stop working or both, the Car uses more Fuel and it can significantly effect the overall Performance. They are made of Plastic and get contaminated with Oil which stops or Jams movement. I am a Diesel Man so I'm sure Stocktake and others will correct the above statement, or put any additional Information required. A Faulty Removed VIS Valve Motor Picture borrowed. Thanks. I've just hooked up this unit to my V6, and if I've done it correctly it would seem that both VIS Valves are duff.
Is the car's engine supposed to be running, or at least the ignition be on when using the tester? I didn't have either on, and with the Power VIS Valve all I get is a click no LED, and with the Balance VIS Valve I get a constant Blue LED and again a click when the button is pressed. If they are both U/S, do I need to buy new ones, or can they be repaired (I think Stocktake does this doesn't he?) |
