Announcing Roverfest inc 24th Club National Meet 11th-13th August 2017
Announcing Roverfest incorporating The Owners Club 24th National Meet from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th August 2017 As part of the Roverfest weekend, The Club's 24th National Meet will be held on Sunday 13th August 2017 at Wroxall Abbey Hotel & Estate Birmingham Road Wroxall CV35 7NB 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of Rover launching the V8 engine. This engine was developed as the power plant for the Rover P5 which gained the B suffix indicating the engines origins from Buick. The engine was subsequently installed into the Rover P6, SD1, Range Rover and Land Rovers. During its lifetime it appeared in other non–Rover marques such as the MGBGT V8, TVR, and Morgan. In celebration of this engine, the Joint Rover Clubs of Great Britain, consisting of the Rover Sports Register, The Rover P4 Drivers Guild, The P5 Club, The Rover P6 Club, The SD1 Club, The Rover 200/400 Club, The Rover Coupe Owners Club, The Rover 75 and MG ZT Owners Club and Rover 800 Club will be joining forces to stage one big celebratory “Rover Fest” weekend in August 2017. Roverfest is a full weekend of celebrations and activities for all things Rover and of course especially the legendary Rover V8 engine which turns 50 years old in 2017, but don't worry all our MG ZT members are also warmly welcomed to the celebrations. Activities will commence on Friday evening at Wroxall, then on Saturday there will be a range of events at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon, or alternatively you will have the chance to visit local attractions and the historic nearby towns such as Leamington Spa, Warwick, Stratford upon Avon and Coventry. Saturday evening is the Roverfest Gala Dinner at Wroxall. The weekend culminates in the grand Roverfest Rally at Wroxall on Sunday 13th August at which The JRC aim to have the largest gathering of Rover vehicles ever staged in the UK. What's on and What's the cost? Inclusion to the weekend of organised events is £10 per car which covers all three days. On Friday there will be a social event at Wroxall, bar meals etc to be paid for as you go. On Saturday there is a road run organised which will cost an extra £2, in addition to the activities at Gaydon which include a driving skills test which will cost £3 per driver. Please note that entry into the Gaydon site will have to be paid directly to the museum at the discounted price of £9. On Saturday evening the Gala Meal at Wroxall is charged at £28 per person. Sunday's National meet will already be covered by your £10 inclusion fee for the weekend. Please don't feel you have to attend all of the activities, it's up to you which ones you take part in, if you simply want to come to Sunday's National meet, then that's fine, just pay the £10 fee to cover the JRC costs and we'll see you there. How Do I Register To Come? To attend any or all of the weekend including our National Meet, you must Register at the Roverfest website: http://www.roverfest.uk/entry-form/ Where To Stay and Camping? There is also the Premier Inn an Balsall Common next to the George in the Tree pub just off Kenilworth road. I usually stay here when visiting the NEC show.
