Another connector with no where to go...
Here's another one of those "behind the scenes" photos. This weeks mystery guest is a 10-pin plug that is part of the wiring adapter harness for my Symphony unit with a Connects2 converter box for a Sony CD changer. The normal audio/changer wires are all in place as is the BMW loom connector bit. The left-over piece is this wire here... What does it do folks?
It ataches into the back of the Headunit and seperates from the main tied-up cables just past the white label in the picture (top right arrow). It then has about a foot or so of wires until it ends in the 10-pin connector block (although not all 10 pins are wired) that doesn't seem to fit anywhere (lower left arrow). The Headunit is a Symphony Lo-Line and has another connector for the Nav controls that at the moment has no lead going into it because I do not have the rest of the Lo-Line system. Here is the pic: |

What cables does it have, could be for the Low Line Navigation switch.

Hi I have looked up the Part Number VUL100320 on the XPart EPC and it is Listed as Hi Line Radio Harness Upgrade Lead. Hope that helps. It costs a Pricely £46.98 + VAT

Got the lead from eBay for the bargain price of £15.
I was just wondering where that lead is supposed to go. In my set-up I'm guessing it's not needed, but perhaps with navigation installed may it go to the IPK? It's just about long enough to reach there...? Ideas? |

Having done some more checking, it's for connecting to the Alpine CD changer. (I think!) .

Have a look at Mike's 'How to' in ICE & Navigation - How to fit a CD changer to a 75/ZT with the Harmony or Symphony Head Unit . It mentions two adapter leads that have part numbers very similar to yours.

Mike's "How To" unfortunately doesn't list the particular part number I've got. See my original thread (to which you contributed too about getting the correct lead for my setup. Perhpas this plug is something to which was mentioned on this thread but - at the time - something that didn't occur to me http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ead.php?t=1532)

Thank you John but I already have it for that very purpose. What is odd is the connector I've specifically pointed out on the harness that doesn't seem to have anywhere to plug into...
