I would imagine at least a days, if not more. Not including swapping belts etc. What was the conclusion with your car?

You dont say weather it is a new or old unit. If i was to quote you it would be on a open basis a secound hand unit would need belts water pump guides and the dreaded thermostat housing and dont forget the secound hand unit would need a few hours labour to prepair before fitting so you are about right between one and a half days to two days labour so is your old unit a total as you would not be the first person to fit a secound hand unit only to find it is worse than the one you took out point being get a price for repairing your own unit first and when ever possible hear the next engine to be fitted running before bying Five hundred and sixty pounds LAB +OILS BELTS ETC:lol:

Oh dear, sounds like the engine oil light pointed towards some serious wear ?
I'd be wanting to fill the bloke in who sold it to me and disconnected the oil pressure gauge! But then again, it could have been the previous owner. But I would say Labour for an engine change by someone decent is going to be at least £500. But then again what are the chances that the one going in is less than perfect? |

We are currently in the process of doing an engine change on a GTM Libra. The car was originally fitted with a ZT190 engine and we are putting in a ZS180 engine (from my project ZS180). For a ZS/ZT we would normally expect to charge around 10-12 hours labour for a KV6 engine swap, which includes fitting new cam belts and swapping some components between engines.
For the GTM swap we will be fitting the GTM's inlet manifold to the new engine as I knew that this was broken on the ZS180 when I bought it. |
