Default Help Rover 75!

I drove my rover 75 1.8se conn 2002 back from work this afternoon with no problems. Went to go out in it 30 mins later and although the headlights, interior lights ,radio all come on, all the ignition does is click and the engine doesn't turn over at all...any ideas? need it for work tomorrow!!!!!

When you try to turn it over do the headlight flicker ?

The most common fault on theses at this time of year is the battery, another thing to check is the starter motor.

If it's a auto make sure it's in park and give the gear stick a run thru the gears back to park to make sure it's located correctly.

Get someone to turn the key and hold it so the ignition is on while you tap the starter solenoid.

As said above, either battery or starter solenoid. If the headlights flash 3 thimes when you try to start it , then it is likely to be the battery, if not starter solenoid

The starter solenoid is part of the starter motor.

Hopefully you can click on this link and it will show you how to clean them. Not sure if unsubscribed members have access to this info though

http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=25196

The how to is from a KV6 petrol but hopefully the 1.8 is the same???? not sure where the starter is situated on the 1.8 though

worst case scenario is replacement starter
