I work in the titanium industry supplying metal for air frames and jet engines, do not be under any illusion that the Chinese are behind on quality and such, they are miles ahead of the weston world and are willing to plough money in to products to exeed anybody else, A lot has changed from the usual perception of China (ie Teanumen square, Mao etc) The industry leaders etc realised that you get a better product if you pay well, have better working conditions etc, They will be what Japan was 15-20 years ago.

I would have no problems with buying one if it was a good vehicle.

The Chinese built versions/copies of the Vauxhall Frontera (2003) and the Daewoo/Chevrolet Matiz (2005) both failed the European NCAP safety tests and cannot be sold in Europe. In the case of the Matiz copy the performance was one of the worst ever out of all the cars tested in recent years. This was put down to the use of inferior quality steel and the standard of welding.

This does seem to conflict with the above quote.

But didn't the originals score rubbish as well.
Totally agree if they are rubbish they are rubbish, but my point is they are ploughing money into industry to get the quality up. At the moment scrap metal prices are high because of demand from China, such is there quest for growth.

I would point out though my problems with Brake discs made in China being extremely poor quality, ie a hole appearing in the casting and ultrasonic testing showing a huge cavity, Hardly confidence inspiring
