Default Tourer rear light cluster fixings

My car seems to have a bit on an apetite for tail light bulbs and each time I take the light cluster off another piece of the mounting bracket breaks off.

The offside one now has nothing for the top screw to locate on at all and the two popper fittings on the outer edge are pretty useless too.

Any tricks here?

Glen.

I busted one of them and I used a couple of blobs of silicone to keep it in place and secure, worked a treat and if I need to replace a bulb again I will just need to slice the silicone with a craft knife.

Cheers
Tony

Not only can they be brittle, which caused me to buy another set about a year ago as the located lugs at the back of the light units break, they can also be a source for water penetration if the foam washers are missing or disintegrated, so a touch of silicon where the screws go in can prevent that. I'm just hoping that a rear bulb does'nt blow too soon as I don't fancy the delicate operation of dismantling/re-assembling the lights during the winter months

Thanks chaps

I've already fitted new white clips for the popper sides on both sides of the car, but the popper is so tight that the square part pulls out of the body first

Silicon sound a good plan, or I might make up some angled brackets for the screw sides when the weather gets better!

I found the same when I fitted mine.

Try warming the clips in hot water before inserting and then push them in hard using a tool that fits inside the "cup". Make sure you hear two clicks and then you know it is properly locked into the panel.
