Wheel alignment
Hey..
I had a four wheel alignment done yesterday to centre the steering wheel. Guy done it all and test drove it and told me its perfect and wheel is in middle. I take it home and the steering is pointjng to the right, if i hold it in centre it drives to the curb. He told me the rear is slightly out possibly due to a tiny amount of play in a bush but not worth replacing yet as its corroded do bad it will need an overhaul... despite just passing mot. I have a printout of the alignment specs if anyone can make sence of it? Cheers Phill |

The link's not set correctly. I think you pasted it directly as a message rather than using the Insert Link button.

Phill,
Did you go to a Hunter equipped business on this website? If the steering wheel isn't centred then it hasn't been done correctly. Simon

Thanks mate!
Im not sure what equipment it was.. things went on wheels and lazer flashed at them I guess and gave readings on the screen?! Most annoying thing is he said he test drove it. I noticed it straight away lol.. hate going back to get them to correct work as feel really fussy but wonky sterring wheel is a big no no for me |

The front and rear toe settings and the thrust angle were actually within the MGR specs before the adjustment. The individual wheels weren't exactly half the totals specified so they've tried to equalise them, but it's not essential. However, they haven't locked the steering wheel to the dead ahead position before conducting the work. Basically, they've missed out the important initial step that makes the car comfortable to drive - the position of the steering wheel.

It shouldn't feel that much different. They hardly changed anything.
I'd suggest taking it to a recommended tracking station. Ask here or see if there's a convenient place in the recommended lists. TC |
