Rear suspension knocking
My Rover 75 CDTi Tourer failed the MoT due to rear exhaust blowing and R/N/S road spring broken. The rear exhaust was replaced by the garage with a Rimmer part (no MG Rover part available), and appears to be fitted OK without any fouling on bodywork when shaken by hand. The R/N/S road spring had been broken for some while judging by the corrosion on the broken end, and was replaced by the garage but does not look to have been correctly located in the holding device at the bottom. There is now a knocking from the suspension whenever a rough patch on the road is traversed (which is most of the time these days). The Haynes manual hints that this may be due to wear in the anti-roll bar drop links, but it is hard to see why this should be so.
Is there any experience of suspension knocking of this kind, or any suggestions on how to proceed? |
