He should never have been charged, let alone convicted. If the lawyers involved in these cases, the CPS or military equivalent, the jury members and all those involved (including the armchair warriors who are MP's) had been in theatre and seen what goes on they would know that to terminate a dying man is an act of compassion, despite any verbals made in the heat of battle.

The reduced charge of manslaughter means he is discharged from service but 'at fault'. He'll be lucky to find a job but at least the threat of 'dishonour' is no longer on his record. Good luck to him and his family.

Default Ridiculous

Whole thing was ridiculous. You are either at war with these folk ( which means things like this are inevitable) or you keep our troops out of it. Clean, disinfected war does not, and never has existed!
People forget these guys had seen their colleagues literally being blown up by the 'enemy' so no great surprise if they retaliate.

The 'you can't shoot until shot at ' or having to get 'clearance' to engage people with weapons or bombs is frankly insane.

thank goodness he is getting home but in my opinion it should never have even seen court never mind a guilty verdict of any form.
