Two weeks ago I tried to pay for coffee in a café in Coniston with the new pound coins. The girl at the till heard our Scottish accents and having not seen the new coins, asked if they were Scottish! She accepted them reluctantly.

The "old ones" cease to be legal in September, so not very long considering that's its mostly the old pound coin I'm given in change still .....

What better time for the criminals to put out fake ones
Most people are not that familiar with them yet.
From what I've heard there's fakes circulating of the new £5 note too

Just read an article about this online. Its not a fake but a miss strike during production. So far they have no idea how many have been made but they are already saying that they could be valuable dependent upon this.

The problem appears to be because it is a very complex pressing, especially the hologram, and this hasn't come out correctly. With massive numbers being produced the mint suggest that the odd miss strike is inevitable so check your pockets. if there's one or two they will be worth a fortune it thousands still a few quid.

I think I read that we were in an early adopters area of the UK (or was it for the new £5?). Anyway I am seeing lots of the new coins around here.

I thought most people tended to use tokens for the trolleys, rather than £1 coins?

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Default Mis strike

I have 6 of the new ones and a couple are mis-struck. I think this is more common than we are led to believe.
Looking on ebay someone is trying to sell a 'rare' new one pound coin for £4000.
Why?
Well because it has 2016 on it instead of 2017.
All my 6 are dated 2016 . . . . . I'm rich!! Rich I tell ya!
