Took this at the cat rescue in the garden this afternoon, two different edits....

Nice shot Jeff. I see you used flash on that one. I have been using my TTL flash off camera with 24 inch soft box for flower shots. Not much help in blazing sunshine but gives some light control on duller days. It helps darken the background (like yours). I find this helps if background is just a mess and you want it less visible.

Thanks Paul,

I tend to always use flash for that type of photography, as I do with my cat portraits as well.

That was used with the flash having a diffuser over it to soften the light.

With my cat photos I tend to bounce the flash off the cat pen ceilings and use the built in flash card to get some catchlights
