However, as you have found a serious fluid leak from your gearbox, the loss of drive may be due only to the resulting low pressure.

We fixed the leak Simon and put a full 5 litres of fluid into the gearbox and she only just dribbled out the level plug do we need to put more in ? what do these boxes hold in litres to be full

Dribbling out the level plug is the correct level - wait for it to stop, and replace the plug.

Default Jatco solenoid test connector

Hi

Just to check.......

Is it the male (pins) or female (sockets) that you check the 2/4 duty solenoid.

I have measured 15.6kohms at the female and 3.7ohms at the male.

Blimey, feels like a while since I wrote this!

The same gearbox is still going strong, near enough 80,000 miles later.

Matt (or anyone else in the know)...
With regards to the “twist together connector”, for checking solenoid resistance: I’ve had a look at mine this evening, and it looks as if the two halves are a straight “push fit”.
Ie to separate, just pull or prise apart.
Have I got this wrong?
I don’t want to go twisting something I shouldn’t.😳

Sounds like the outer 'twist' sleeve has broken off somehow.

Default Harsh automatic gearbox changes - Failed 2/4 Duty Solenoid

Thanks trikey,
Here’s what mine like looks like where it is (the one on the right, closest to the passenger seat).

Before I muller something, I thought I had better ask a more definitive question...🙄
Does the connector separate at where I’ve shown the pen tip in photo 1...
Just pull apart??

Or photo 2....

I can’t pull the connector out far enough to see the underside, at photo 2, but think it might just be the recess for the circular holder clamp.
EDIT: sorted....it does just twist apart, and separate at the location in photo 1.
