Morning arrival at location of Mexican drilling barge "Revolucion".

Off Puerto Peňasco at the top of Baja California. Mexico 1981.

It's difficult to get a decent picture in these conditions, and the ship rolling about.

I do believe you are right Ravinder as we were coming from Guaymas, so the right hand side would be to the east. Memory playing tricks after all these years.

Leith Harbour whaling station looking southwards from the main jetty. Leith Harbour was the largest of the whaling stations on South Georgia.

Not very good pics, but it was an unusual and interesting job we did with the Gurkha Engineers. An old ships anchor had been found on the bottom in Stanley Harbour and we were tasked to recover it.

Norman (Mate) inspects the anchor after retrieval.

The wooden anti-roll bar had rotted away, and museum staff identified it as a pre 1805 anchor. There was no report of an anchor having been lost, so it could have been there for anything up to two hundred years. The Gurkha Engineers took it away for preservation, then it was presented to the Stanley Museum.

The colourful seafront at Qingdao. The water looks tempting, but it's very cold.

The seafront at Penglai has a more traditional appearance.

The seafront at Yantai is very modern looking.

In the evenings there are musical fountain light shows. This pic doesn't do them justice, but it was difficult getting a decent hand held shot.

Yantai, China.
