This brings to mind a case not that long ago. It was about a mother and daughter that had fallen out. The mother was determined for all her money to go to a series of cats charities. The daughter went to court, the charities took on the case and appealed, they lost.
There is a law you can't leave your children without means after you die.
There's so many challenges to wills, by people of all class and status, i consider mine to be a list of suggestions.
One way to ensure people get what you want them to have, give it them (if at all possible) whilst you are still alive.
The above isn't a comment on anyone, just my general thoughts on the matter.

The Supreme Court over ruled the original verdict just over a week ago.

It went to court and the charities won, then their was an appeal and the daughter won (as I understood it). That case was mentioned by my Will writer, as a need to make sure the Wills were completely watertight.

One of Jean's kids was being left out of her Will because they had a fall out and no contact for 10+ years. The suggested adjustment was a token payment to that child, to avoid them being able to dispute the Will later, should they even become aware.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Your allowed to give away £3000 per tax year as a gift before it is added to the estate. Also bear in mind the 7 year rule. Please see the link below .GOV

No, the charities won in the latest appeal as shown in my link. As it was the verdict of the Supreme Court, I do not think she can appeal. She certainly has not in the last 10 days

There's nothing splits up families better than a Will and/or money grabbing relatives. I feel for you Harry, as I've been through something very similar and it brings out the very worst of human behaviour.

My wife and I several years ago spoke to all of our six children

We told them we were going to spend their inheritance and they said Good Luck. You earned it---you spend it.---

Good point Phil. I remembered it working with older people when working in s/w. I have taken beds down stairs so a client could remain in their homes so the money grabbing siblings couldn't put them into care and sell their houses with full care packages put in place.

I have already told my parents about making a will and putting their house as my sisters property possession to avoid the 7yr rule you mentioned.

I don't want a cut of a three way split of their property and money. I have asked for my share to go to my 18yr old son, if/when, for the future after university in his life.
