Immediate panic now over.

It would appear that if your motor burns out it locks up which stops you winding it with the allen key.

Eventually got the thing out and took the endplate of the motor off and drew the gubbins out. Hey presto. Winder back in car and allen key turns a treat.

Now it`s time to find out why it burnt out!
If it closed easily enough with motor gubbins removed I would suspect the sunshade guides/clips.
