hi
just unplugged the high pressure fuel rail sensor and it started almost instantly, need really to check after its been stopped for a good length of time. Does that indicate a problem with that high pressure sensor? Thanks Last edited by mbev51; 29th May 2016 at 11:09.. |

The sensors are usually very reliable, so the fault may be on the high pressure side. French Mike's check for the HP sensor should show you the HP pressure when cranking if you have a multimeter.

we just checked out the hp sensor, couldn't get the cranking figure, got a figure for idle which was spot on, just .1 more. Not sure where I'm up to now, luckily its not our main car.

Do you think taking it to a T4 operator might be a quicker fix than driving yourself loony with trying to find out what is causing the problem? There are a few within a drive where you live.

Yes Its driving me loony, then again my nickname is madmick! I have a history of doing everything for myself. At the end of the day I will admit defeat but not yet. We are moving house july 1st, actually we are just moving out, we don't have a house to move into. It has to be fixed for then, so I have a bit of time, I'm retired so no pressure of having to go to work. Last night I found a small weep of fuel at a pipe connection just below and after the fuel filter. I fitted a new piece of pipe in and it eventually started. Have left it until this morning, I will shortly go outside and see what difference it has made. I'm not too confident, mind I don't think its much of a problem, the main problem was a week under bonnet pump, its got a new pierburg one on now. Anyway fingers crossed. Thanks for the concern. |

hi
it hasn't cured the starting problem. It is as if the fuel is draining back. Also I think I'll buy a secondhand hp pump regulator off ebay and a new gasket and o ring set. I have read they don't normally cause problems but its a cheap punt. |
