Its very simple just mix 1 part ATF fluid and I part acetone ( nail varnish remover) this will shift virtually anything ( it was claimed that this solution shifted a seized bolt on an old anchor that had been sitting on a beach for decades! I have used this stuff for years, and for really solidly seized items its unbeatable, plus it smells nice (Almonds)!

Its a plus one from me for the 50/50 brake fluid acetone mix.

If difficult to source locally acetone is available here:

http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.u...0-acetone.aspx

from £3.85 for 500ml up to £169 for a 205L drum with various sizes in between.

Mind you I seem to recall I only needed 204L when removing the lower hub pinch bolt.

Thanks, I've bought plusgas, and been spraying with that. But I may have the ATF + acetone on standby, easy to get hold of for me, work in a chemical plant so we've got literally tons of the stuff, reclaimed and pure... If anyone local ever needs any very good 2 part adhesive, resin or some body filler...

Thanks, but they're actually 1 of our customers, so I'd be silly to pay them for stuff... Lol

Thread moved to a more appropriate forum. Re-direct left in old. This may be the better forum as threads get ‘lost’ very quickly in the General Forum.

It sounds like you are in the right place!
I have just noticed I said brake fluid in my first post.
It works the same but, ATF is kinder to any paint, thinking of it I have 5 litres of dexron in the shed so I must get some acetone and mix a new supply.

Here is the results of a comparative test that I found:

**Machinist's Workshop magazine tested penetrants for break out torque on**
**rusted nuts with significant results!**

**They arranged a subjective test of all the popular penetrants with the**
**control being the torque required to remove the nut from a**
**"scientifically rusted" environment.**

***Penetrating oil ...... Average load***
**None ....................... 516 pounds**
**WD-40 ................... 238 pounds**
**PB Blaster .............. 214 pounds**
**Liquid Wrench ..... 127 pounds**
**Kano Kroil ............. 106 pounds**
**ATF-Acetone mix....53 pounds**

**The ATF-Acetone mix was a "home brew" mix of 50 - 50 automatic**
**transmission fluid and acetone. Note the "home brew" was better than any**
**commercial product in this one particular test. Our local machinist**
**group mixed up a batch and we all now use it with equally good results. **
**Note also that "Liquid Wrench" is about as good as "Kroil" for about 20%**
**of the price.**
**Happy knuckle busting !*

Food for thought!
A decent two part adhesive, and epoxy resin very interesting.
