Default Anyone diagnose this rattle?

It sounds like a Woodpecker banging away in the engine, its a constant rattle and gets louder as the throttle is pressed.
Sound like it's around the area of the cambelts but lower down.

Default Rattle

Alan

Sounds like it is the auxillary belt and tensioner to me, I had the same problem on a ZT I bought, and had a new belt and tensioner fitted, no problems whatsoever now

Stu

More videos added.
It sounds really bad. If it was tappets where would the rattle come from?

Sounds like a combination of things to me.
From the engine videos it sounds like tappets but from video 2 when revved, it's heavier, like bottom-end.
What's the oil pressure like ?
Silly question because i'm sure you've checked, but is the oil low ?
You can eliminate the Auxilliary Belt Tensioner by removing the belt.
It's a little difficult to be sure from the youtube clips though.
One things for sure, see to it soon !!

Does the sound change as the engine gets hotter? Tappets can tap when they get too much oil... at least in my limited experience. Have you checked the oil level?

Can not tell where the rattle is coming from, but it looks like it could have some straw or something off the farm its been on, stuck somewhere.

Either (hopefully) knock sensor leading to pre ignition or incorrect timing leading to pre ignition or (hopefully not) big end / main bearings

Remove the fan belt, see if the noise disappears, it sounds like mine did just before it shredded itself

Difficult to tell from a recording, but...

It sounds like a heavy bottom end knock, like crank bearings. Not tappets, they would be a much lighter noise. Also see if there is any undue movement on pulleys.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
