Default East Kirkby Rover Rally July 2017 ( Scottish visitors)

Hi folks

That is Me, my folks and our fellow Rover friend Mike booked in for our accomodation for the fantastic Rover Rally organised by Lincolnshire Rover Club at East Kirkby Air Museum. This is a fabulous event which I have attended for the last 4 years. Over 350 cars at it this year everything from Rover 75s/ZTs to 1930 Rovers and all manner of MGs, SD1s, P6s.

Spot the 75s/ZTs?

Here are photos from 2015 (better weather than 2016

And...you get to see a real, live Lancaster Bomber do taxi runs. That Rolls Royce Merlin Sound

Plenty to do in the museum if wet but the selection of vehicles is just amazing.

So, is anybody else interested in travelling down and joining us at this. A 6 bed caravan can be had at one of two Hoseasons parks for about £200 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Not bad if shared. We are staying at Tattershall Lakes Caravan Park 6 miles away. Plenty of B&B accomodation locally at Coningsby, Tattershall etc

On the Sunday we are off to the Flying Legends Airshow at IWM Duxford that we attended this year. One word...AMAZING! 9 Spitfires to name but a few. Not that you have to go to that of course but if like me you find second world war aircraft fascinating it is well worth a visit.

If anybody interested post a reply here and we can see if we can have a Scottish Section this year. Really worthwhile if you can go. If you want a second opinion Flying Banana (Bob) usually attends the Rally.

Chris

Default East Krkby Rally

I mentioned to a few folk on Sunday that I often meet Flying Banana and Bob ( or is it Bob and Flying Banana) at this meet. It is well worth a visit

This will be my fourth year and I have throughly enjoyed everyone. The variety of Rovers and MGs is fantastic.

Well worth the journey south

Flying Banana and Bob is correct.
We will try and bring the sun with us this time. Was a wee bit wet last year.

Yes, it was a bit damp! Couple of years before the weather was cracking

My brother & I are attending again - as you say a great event but sadly this year is to be the last according to the email I have just received.
Lets hope the weather gives the event a good finale.

If you have never been its worth going.
Mainly because this will be the last one after 25 years.

Sad it is going to be the last one. Love this event, whatever the weather. Plenty to do and things to see. And to see a Lancaster up close is a pure joy. Be great to see her after her re-paint. Hoping to be able to stay late so that I can get a picture with Banana in front.

Default Oh no!

Goodness me I was saddened to receive the message that this will indeed be the last!
Even more reason to think of going!
