Why do you ask?

Just out of interest - I'm sure there was one member over there but can't remember who.
I have family on the island and pop over every now and again. |

Have got a share in an old boat (1908 ) and we do the Old Gaffers' Regatta at Yarmouth when we can - it's a great long weekend.
Plenty of classic car and military vehicles, and a few steam engines on show, but I think the Council only fund it every other year now which is a shame. |

Yes, next Gaffer's is next year. There is usually a good event most weekends in the Summer, including Chale show, County Show, Garlic festival, Cowes week with fireworks and Red Arrows, the Power boat race, the round the Island race, the cycling festival, the walking festival, walk the wight, the pop festival, Bestival, the Steam fair, the Motorcycle show, and my big favourite, the beer festival. To name but a few. Love the Island!

We were there two years ago and a Typhoon put on a great display.
Then they announced the Red Arrows Display and everyone was looking out to sea when they came in low over the houses from behind - superb start to the show. Shame the Vulcan is now grounded - that and Concorde were always impressive in the sky. |
