A superb photo. I like the crater detail and there is no noise that I can see on this phone screen.

Here is the latest offering, edited today and taken last month out in the bush at an altitude of 6,000 ft with very little light pollution.

Great detail Phil. Was that taken with your bridge camera?

I've never tried anything like this myself. The clarity and detail in this image is amazing. Superb is putting it mildly.

Thank you Paul, the Canon SX40 HS to power of 88 magnification. Auto exposure off. Set for daylight. Image stability and auto focus off, to stop hunting

Thank you Jim The Powershot has a powerful Superzoom range, all the way from macro up to x109 magnification, but it is limited to 12.1mp

Post edited in Aurora Pluto HDR 2017. The software for this is on Mac, but is due to be released for Windows soon. Ran it through Lightroom to clear up the noise and to add clarity to the moon craters. Thank you for your encouragement.

Not as good as Phil's, I never seem to get them pin sharp. Probably a combination of a 600mm zoom lens which doesn't like to sit still on a fairly lightweight tripod, air pollution and probably incorrect technique.

I tend to try the looney 11 rule detailed here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Looney_11_rule

Anyway, here it is, taken this evening:

For moon shots, I am limited to my 250mm lens, but I find I can still get good shots from that even hand held.

I tend to shoot in live view and silent (so mirror locked up and shutter disengaged). I tend to go F11 and about 1/100 or 1/125 shutter. That dends to give me enough scope then to muck about on PS after to get it a little clearer.

They are buried in my Flikr as I can load pics from work
