Brake Sensor indicator question
Hi all
My son carried out a 45k service at the weekend on my 75 1.8T and also changed the front brake pads as they were getting low and I thought I heard a noise from the front left. After he'd changed them he said the front left was seriously low but the right was ok (he obviously changed both pads) but he surprised me when he said that the 75 has only one brake low sensor and thats on the right hand front. That was why no warning light had come on. Is this correct or do i have a "funny" car ! Mine is one of the last mk1's 04 March models.

No your car is normal! one brake pad sensor on the front right caliper and one on the rear right caliper.

Thanks Ray
Mind at rest ... but how odd. Is this normal on other cars (not 75's) too? just one sensor? The left pad had worn (for some reason) quicker than the right and would have been "studs on the disc" long before the sensor indicated a problem. I suspect that when the service was carried out by the dealer a year ago they didnt even look at the pads. My son did and said straight away "stop driving it, I'll do the annual service and pads too" - Glad he did.
