ABS warning
Hi,
just got the ABS warning light on my dashboard on my Rover 75 1.8 - but the brakes seem to be working fine? The car stops OK... I shall get my local place to check it out at some stage, but any thoughts as to urgency of this? (also what to plan for...) |

Your brakes will work completely normally unless and until you get to the stage of locking a wheel - in that case, the ABS system will not attempt to save you, or allow you to steer whilst braking. Your car will fail an MoT test with the ABS light on and a zealous cop may consider your vehicle unroadworthy. ABS fault is usually a sensor or sensor connector. Is the speedo still working properly? |

Hi - thanks for the info. Yes the speedo is fine. I have one 'spurious' light on right now - the broken bulb one. I got them checked and they are all working, even the numberplate ones that tend to get forgotten. I am wondering if this is another such signal too? I shall get the local mechanic (who knows the car) to check it over - a sensor fault would be a lot less problematic than the ABS system, at least... :-)
