I've got the front of my air intake chopped off, and I don't know if it's the placebo effect, but it does seem to rev better.

As my 'local expert' I was going to ask what you'd done Mark, but you've saved me the trouble. Given Dragrad's comments on protecting the maf, I'll probably do the same. Now where's that stanley knife... |

I've taken the calculated risk of running an intake right down to the front bumper.
Yes I run the risk of sucking in water if I drive through a flood (I don't drive through floods) But then, dense, cold, slightly damp air is the best air for burning! |

Well, certainly got enough of that" dense, cold, slightly damp air" around here - and so has Dragrad I'm sure. But the best for burning thing - yet another consideration.... However I've just bought a new Pierburgh maf so I want to keep it nice and dry. |

Although there's probably a simple explanation for it, I can never work out how the MAF gets wet, as surely you have to suck in a lot of water for it to permeate the air filter?

I personally decided not to damage any of the origional parts on the air intake so that I have them in the future if I need them, so to modify the air intake I simply removed the lot including the filter cover and installed a K&N filter, it has been running like this for over a year now without problems.
