Default pride of britain awards 2016

last night an award was given to a man who saved an elderly lady in a 75 on motorway hard shoulder. engine was on fire, unable to open doors due to fire affecting central locking????. brave man smashed drivers door window with a wheel brace. [ glass in ladies face, possible hurt by w/brave. should have broke back window!!!]. re-enactment car non 75. actual video footage from motorway camera shows a 75. I feel sure man that can might download footage from tv catch up or whatever [as my granddaughter would say [shudder]. bad re-enactment of a brave man.

As we are all 75 drivers we need to know:

Are there things we can do to reduce the probability of the engine compartment suddenly bursting into flames?

Can we modify or protect the central locking system to prevent a fire from enabling the deadlocks when the car is occupied?
