Default No turbo on cdti

Hi guys
Got a problem with my MGZT cdti.
The other week on the way home from Ipswich the car lost power and I could only squeeze 50mph out of it and it wouldn't rev properly and no turbo boost. Long journey home.
Had a look see last week and the right side of the car was covered in soot. EGR bypass tube had a crack in it so I changed that.
The car now revs freely and no soot.
But on testing up the road, the turbo isn't boosting so a crawl up to 50mph, I've no idea why so any ideas guys?
I'm off on hols on sunday so will use one of my other cars, but I would like to fix this problem before I go

Many thanks

I've checked the hoses but not the intercooler o rings, I'm guessing they're on the intercooler as I haven't done that before. Edit
Just looked on the how to, so will try that, many thanks

Can you hear the turbo spooling up?

As above check to make sure all your boost pipes are connected and that the intercooler "O" rings are not split as that will lose you boost.

Secondly it could be a faulty MAP sensor (limp mode)

Try unplugging the MAF and doing a re-run just to illiminate that although i doubt it is that.

Wastegate could also be stuck open....

Does it rev freely in neutral? If not check and clean the LP fuel pressure sensor plug connection - it is the one on top of the fuel filter.

Yes it does rev freely in neutral.
I will try the o rings and unplugging the maf. Maf first as that's easier.
Engine management light isn't on

Finally got round to looking at the problem. Changed the O rings as they were shot and no difference, the revs again didn't go above 2k.
Unplugged the maf sensor and problem solved. Goes properly now, revs freely and turbo kicks in.
I have to assume the maf sensor is faulty so can I run the car with it unplugged before I replace it?

many seem to say you will be ok

if not

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3813511366...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

and change the sensor into your housing

Glad it was a simple enough solution.

MAF unfortunatly cost a fortune! as above is probably your best solution!

After buying a new one from a local motor factors that was way out of spec and another new cheapy one from eBay that was just rubbish I bought a used one from a breakers and got 3rd time lucky as it was perfect and is still going strong 2yrs later....moral of the story - trying to save money by buying an alternative is just a waste and you are better off buying a new recommended one as advised.

Doing it trying to save money ended up costing me a lot more (and ending up with a used one anyway) than just biting the bullet and buying a tried and tested one

DONE: HAD A CRAZY IDEA THAT I HAD TO GET RID OF MY MG ZTT DUE TO NOT HAVING A DRIVE AND HAVING TO PARK ON A BUSY STREET WITH A VIEW TO GETTING ANOTHER ONE AT A LATER DATE WHEN I HAVE A DRIVE.

ENDED UP REALISING IT REALLY ISN'T PRACTICAL NOT HAVING A CAR TO GET AROUND AND I NOW OWN A VW EOS 3.2 V6 INDIVIDUAL (1 OF 20 REMAINING IN THE UK WITH THAT ENGINE AND TRIM COMBO) EVEN THOUGH I STILL LIVE ON A BUSY ROAD WITHOUT A DRIVE
