Default Change Crank as well as Cam Sensor?

Warm starting problems on Connie Diesel, so after reading up a bit on here I've concluded that there's a fair chance it's the Cam sensor (it's a particular issue getting car to start if I need to break a long journey or as happened last week at 2 in the morning, wife stalls it on an uphill junction driving back from Newcastle to Staffs).

I have taken the sensor off and it made a bit of a difference just cleaning it with WD40, so hoping the new one ordered yesterday from an MG Rover specialist supplier will do the trick.

Is it worth me changing Crank Sensor at same time? I've read differing opinions about this and given that car is fine when running, I'm leaning towards not bothering..especially as I can't locate it and can't find an actual picture of the thing in situ to help me. I'll post back later to say whether the Cam Sensor does the trick, If anyone has an opinion about changing the two parts I'd be grateful. If anyone knows a decent mechanic for Rovers in Stoke I'd be grateful too,

If the engine runs fine once fired up then the crank sensor is doing it's job. Mine is still going strong at 380k miles so they can last.

Too late for French Mike's advice unfortunately. Bought the new cam sensor fitted, ran engine for 10-15 mins or so. Turned engine off then tried to restart. Fine. Turned off again and left for 5 mins before trying to start again. Not as good as I'd hoped but a definite improvement, with engine kicking in after a few seconds. I suppose it's possible that I could have one (or more) failing injectors as well as a failing camshaft sensor?

I'll have a look at the FAQ on injector leak-back testing and have a go at that tomorrow,

Update. Tried to start car an hours after my last post and would kick in at all. Just got her going again but after turning over for several seconds. So back to square one and looking for a culprit that isn't the cam sensor - which obviously isn't any better than the old one. New cam sensor's on ebay tomorrow.

More likely leakback from faulty injectors than faulty glowplugs?

Won't be the Glow Plugs. The engine doesn't need them unless you are at the North Pole.---

Ta Colvert. That's something ruled out at least. I need the easiest version of a leakback/injector test there is now...or its off to the garage with my big maroon friend.

This should be easy enough

Remember to clamp off the return pipe though
