Default Tyres... Check What They Are Fitting !!

Recently I bought two new Good Year Efficient Grip tyres from Kwik Fit Redcar branch. Pretty satisfied with what I got from them, except for the £3 charge for Nitrogen when inflating. What's that all about ??? The air we breathe is 79% nitrogen, until, I had a look at the tyres they fitted.

Both were Good Year, both were new, but, they had fitted X 1 Efficient Grip, and X 1 Efficient Grip Performance. I'm miffed they didn't tell me they had done that.

As it happens, I went to another tyre supplier, and purchased another GYEfficient Grip Performance tyre, and put both performance tyres on front axle, and the Efficient Grip on the rear axle. Notwithstanding the tyre was much cheaper than Kwik Fit.

Buyer beware I suppose, but it is worth checking they give you what you ask for.

Rogue Traders or similar on telly a while ago, about some Kwik Fit centres charging for nitrogen but the tyres were inflated with boggo standard air!

KwikFit have already had their wrist slapped about inflating tyres with nitrogen and charging extra without seeking permission from the customer first. If I were you I'd be straight round there to ask for my money back.

As for putting on different tyres, that's inexcusable.

I wouldn't go near Kwik Fit with a barge pole. I purchased some new tyres on line and pre paid for a wheel alignment check as well. On collecting the car I asked him if the tracking had been OK. The guy said they had had to adjust it slightly but not much. Some time later, I was under the car looking at the track rod ends and noted that the threads were in a really poor state and the lock nuts was seized solid.

Why didn't he just tell me that and give me my money back. They lied instead, knowing that for 99% of the time the suckers (sorry - customers) will never know.

I'm another who wouldn't touch KwiK Fit with a bargepole.

My SIXTEEN year old nephew got a job with them last summer.

Within three days they had issued him a certificate to say he had passed his training and was now a qualified tyre fitter.

My nephew told me all sorts of horror stories about the way they're told to upsell everything regardless of need.

Scary people.

I'm another that hasn't been near them for years. I use a tyre shop local to central Scotland, Farmers. It was started by Sir Tom Farmer after he sold Kwik Fit. Never had any bother there, free coffee is a bit naff though

Kwik Fit are a joke, tyres are expensive, service is disgusting, they dont take any care with wheels etc.

I'd rather buy my tyres from camskill or some other online agent and get them fitted by my friend at a local national tyres place for cheap

Separating it from the other 21% is what costs. But certainly not for £3 a car's worth.

Several years ago, they scuffed one of my alloy wheels and refused to pay for a repair. They claimed it was there before I had tyres fitted, I would never go back again.
