Default Mentioned it before....

Hi All,

I know I have mentioned it before but it really does surprise me how quickly my diesel goes from 50mph to 70+.

As many of you know I don't do a lot of driving out of town but I have needed to do some refresher courses at South Shields this week so got a few runs up and down the A19 and got stuck behind a couple of lorries, vans etc doing around 50 in the outside lane so had to overtake them and it seemed to go from 50 to just under 80 in the blink of an eye when I pulled back into the inside lane.

I am a bit paranoid about always needing to be within the speed limit but it's so easy without realising it that the speed limit came and went lol

ENDED UP REALISING IT REALLY ISN'T PRACTICAL NOT HAVING A CAR TO GET AROUND AND I NOW OWN A VW EOS 3.2 V6 INDIVIDUAL (1 OF 20 REMAINING IN THE UK WITH THAT ENGINE AND TRIM COMBO) EVEN THOUGH I STILL LIVE ON A BUSY ROAD WITHOUT A DRIVE

If you have had the 160 upgrade then yes they do hop on a bit 50 to 70 +

and it does surprise a few cars who are a bit close behind when you leave them behind.

I had the 160 done a while ago off MarinaBrian.

It's actually a great feeling, the thrust back in your seat as the turbo picks up suddenly and you take off

mines the same going from 50-80/90. actually quicker to leave it in 5th gear than dropping it down into 4th.

You only need to be traveling at 5 MPH faster than the vehicle you are over taking, absolutely no need to hit 70 and 80 in a 60MPH A road.

They do get on from 50-80, effortless really. Also, 70-90 on the motorway is similar, makes for a quick overtake manoeuvre rather than hogging the overtaking lanes for a mile or so, holding up the ton-up BMW boys

It's odd that you should mention this just as it is odd how the spin and marketing folks have brain washed the UK car buyers and especially the car renters ........................ sorry those whom lease a new car .

This brain washing shows in the used car market when comparing it with the used car market in France as we have recently been doing. The prices for used cars I was informed is higher in France and yet from my searching the results are that both Audi and BMW it seems are actually cheaper than here in the UK.

We began expanding the car search in case we could not find LHD Rover 75 is suitable spec and condition with BMW and Audi being the last two makes to be looked through. The impression that I personally have gotten through this is that the used car buyers in France do not seem to have been brainwashed as they have been in the UK. The brain washign seems to have taken it's hold in some of the Eastern European new member states of the EU though with at least the Polish and Latvians worshiping both Audi and BMW cars . The Poles might be explained by the fact that it seems that BMW have plants producing parts and cars in Poland .......................... Hmmm looking at MBM's own site there is no mention of Poland :-

Quote:
Currently, the BMW Group uses assembly plants to manufacture automobiles predominantly with partners in six locations (Thailand, Malaysia, Russia, Egypt, Indonesia and India) and motorcycles in Brazil.
But then it also forgets to mention China or Holland yet both produce BMW's how odd!

Your last paragraph is called selective amnesia.
