^ very true

especially on the kv6 engine which already near its full potential by default.... there is just not much to get.

seemed to get a bit of extra zip when my o2 sensor got disconnected.
Makes the engine run a bit richer without any sensor lights.
Was a bit disappointed when I put a new sensor back in !!

I assume that with the O2 sensor disconnected it also consumed more.

I went for a full stainless steel exhaust from the manifold and to me helped the engine no end.

I bought a set of Piper 270 cams to fit but colin ni pointed out that the short 5th gear on the 190 would take away any gains and would be better suited in the 2lt v6 as it has the longer 5th gear. I also went to a racing company to get a set of second hand heads ported and polished and they said that the heads were pretty much ok as is and only would require a MILD port and polish. To get all this extra work done for very little gain and that all the car will be used for is to go to work and back the ££££££ did not add up.

Regarding the stainless steel exhaust, anyone got some options for this job? Or show me what they fitted themselves?

i modified rover rear pipe and rear pipe to backbox from a e36 bmw saloon, it was a peco exhaust with a 4" tailpipe but it saved me having to buy another backbox when i needed one lol, dont think it makes any difference to performance tho

Years ago when the K&N cones were becoming the must have, I watched a dyno test on a normal air filter, and a cone filter. The result was that the cone took around 1.5/2.00 BHP off the power range. You pays your money and makes your choice.

Lol szublu, that means I need one then.
Rsnail, check your viz motors, fit a good quallity air filter. Then either flog the car and buy a 2.5, or fit a 2.5 engine in yours.
Better exhausts, 270 cams, gas flowed heads will all work if you want to pay for them, but is it worth it? Definately not on a 2litre, as has been said by others

Rsnail, google MG ZS 180 tuning it will give you all the info you need as your car has the same engine and gear box I think.
