Default Help!! Rover 75 cdti 2003 manual fault !!

Hi folks I've got a 53 plate 75 saloon cdti manual with just over 153k on the clock .Car was going fine until last week .I can drive it for days no problems then out the blue it loses power & wont rev past 2 thousand revs If I leave car for a little while it will then start & drive fine I took it too my local mechanic & he's plugged his snap on diagnostic machine in & ecu wont pair up with car 🙈Anyone came across these faults & if both are connected or individual faults Thanks in advance Mark

Check and clean the plug connection to the LP fuel pressure sensor - it sits on top of the fuel filter inboard of the battery.

Pre 2004 Diesels are non EOBD 2 compliant so no wonder his Snap-on can't link with the ecu You'll need a T4 session for that

Yes they would, the plug is on top of the fuel filter head

As Mike says, the problem you are experiencing is likely due to a low pressure fuel delivery problem, either real, or "imagined" by the cars engine management system.

You can also unplug this sensor as a test, the ECM will see the fuel delivery pressure as 440Kpa, and it will be prevented from inhibiting injector operation.

This is only a short term test, as the protection is there to prevent possible damage to the high pressure fuel pump from fuel starvation

You don't need a diagnostic machine, all of the information is in mine and Mike's post

The plug in question is pictured here, the electrical connector is nearest the corner of the battery box lid
