Fan motor
[/IMG][/IMG]
This is my 2.5 V6 connoisseur minus front end obviously... After much deliberation and advice here, I took the plunge to replace the carbon brushes. Do I need to remove the metal housing which includes the lights as well? I thought it was 'just' the bumper & crash bar! Last edited by Theodore; 22nd February 2017 at 13:15.. Reason: image |

Yes the slam panel (with lamps attached) must be removed to gain access to the fan assembly. There will be a HowTo do it all if you use the forum's Google search system. I'll see if I can find it if you can't.

NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-! Thanks...I think. There was also talk of a gold or a silver strip (resistor?) behind the fan blades...I don't have one. I can see the holes for what may be its location?

You will have to remove the slam panel, and the two aircon pipes to fully remove the fan and its housing from the front of the car.
Aircon pipes are easy to remove, but carry a whole new set of rules. The plastic fan housing can be cut away from around the pipes to prevent the pipes removal, there is a 'How To' on here somewhere. |

You're a star. Will try tomorrow weather permitting. This must be some kind of rights of passage for 75 owners!

I have removed the fan without cutting the fan shroud around the aircon pipes.
If you undo the shroud and pull the battery side of the shroud forward you can reach in and undo the fan mounting bolts, once the fans unbolted you can feed the wiring relay box etc out as well. Last edited by genpk; 23rd February 2017 at 11:06.. |
