Afternoon all, It's chucking it down here What an afternoon! I lost power to the garage so I've been fault finding all afternoon. I had the multimeter out to check the sockets etc but it was a break in the wiring underneath the workbench were the power comes in, I remember crowbarring a corner of the bench out last week to move something with the bar. I must have cut the cable
My tyre inflater (cheap one) wouldn't zero so I ordered a new one off ebay, A Bergen Pro. £19.98. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BERGEN-Pro...D100102%26What It's a a great piece of kit, The tyre pressures in the Rover were Way off The steering is really light again & they look properly inflated. I'm cream crackered so I cant be bothered cooking tea, It'll be a chippy tea Fish chips & mushy peas

To be honest driving a train is easy, its all the knowledge that has to go with it. As one of the old drivers said when I started "any fool can drive a train, its when it disnae do what its supposed to that the fun starts!". You have to know all the fault and failure procedures of the locomotive you are driving and have a comprehensive knowledge of the route you are driving over, gradients, signal locations, line speeds, where you are (including in the dark when its pitch black!). No driver can drive a locomotive he hasn't been trained and passed competent on nor can he drive over a route he hasn't learned and been passed competent on.
You have a bi-annual examination on rules and regulations, simple pass or fail, fail and you're grounded until you attain the required level. Bi-annual practical driving assessment with a Driver Manager, again simple pass or fail. No improvement in the rules or practical and its goodbye or (if you're lucky) demotion with associated cut in pay to a non driving position. I've done both, Driver and Driver Manager in my time. |
