Engine hoist
Hi,
What size engine hoists are gathering dust in your garages? Would i get away with a 1 ton unit or should i push the boat out and get a 2 tonner? Thanks |

we use a 1.5t one, it will lift a V6 with ease.

I have got one of these and for the price it's excellent.
I'm sure other people sell them under different names. It's up to 2 tonnes. Probably not for serious continuous workshop use. http://www.automotechservices.co.uk/...-engine-crane/ |

I'm sure my ancient hoist I'm about to install is only 10cwt. Surely even a V6 with gearbox is less than half a ton? I've used a different but equally old hoist to lift a Rover P4 engine and, being iron, must be much heavier.

Why, oh why, oh why do they have to put related products on display too? All i keep thinking about now is their hydraulic Coil spring compressor and it's very reasonable price |

1t tonn crane should basically be sufficient. The 1.8 engine + manual gearbox should be no more than 150 kg for reference.
