A new MG concept car is being unveiled at the Shanghai motor show later this month.

It looks very nice indeed judging by the sneak preview pictures.
I hope it goes into production, all electric too.

Yeah, read about this on the MG Car Club forum. Shape unclear but teasingly interesting. 0 to 60 under 4 seconds and 300 mile range great for an electric car.

Isn't there a scrappage scheme being announced in a few days for your old diesels cars! I could be persuaded to trade in mine if I had one.



MG E-Motion Concept Zoom-Zooms Into Reality

The all-electric sports car concept adopts Mazda-esque headlights.
A set of grainy official images depicting MG’s new Shanghai-bound concept have emerged onto the World Wide Web ahead of a public debut in a couple of days. The four-seater coupe adopts a stylish exterior design with butterfly doors and a prominent front grille with a large MG badge in the center, which by the looks of it lights up thanks to LEDs. At the top corners of the Mercedes-inspired glitzy grille are the Mazda-like sleek headlights lending the showcar a high-tech appearance also enhanced by the implementation of cameras instead of regular door mirrors.
Sitting on beefy two-tone alloy wheels, the MG E-Motion appears to have a massive panoramic roof and chunky side skirts. The back of the car hosts one of the biggest diffusers we have ever seen along with sweptback taillights and a neatly integrated spoiler lip. As it’s the case with the front bumper, the rear one features “E-Motion” lettering in white to highlight the concept’s moniker and the fact it has an all-electric powertrain.

I have too saying at the photos it does look pretty mean and fast.

Reminds me a bit of the Jag F-type.

I doubt I'd be able to get into it or out of it without a lot of complaining from my back.

Details about the electric motor(s) have not been disclosed, but reports are indicating the stylish coupe does 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) in less than four seconds. The unspecified battery pack allegedly has enough juice for a range of more than 310 miles (500 kilometers), which frankly seems too good to be true.

Jesus guess MG China really want too take on the bigger company's with those stats it does sound pretty impressive.

Be quite interesting too see how the electric motor is operated and how it responds, MPG figures seem well and good, but till we see it our selfs in action we won't know, I'll be keeping close eye on this development.

I've always said MG would eventually return to the sports car market, the brand had to really.
The company just needed to established themselves, now watch the MG brand get back to being upmarket again.

I do hope so Wes - I had huge reservations about Land Rover becoming owned by the Indian Tata - but just look how wrong that premature judgement was .

It would be great to see MG as a brand back up there with the rest of the premium brands

A £2000 scrappage allowance will be a drop in the ocean, I bet this will be in the £45,000 to £60,000 price range .......
