Default You know that the ground in your back garden

is hard when you have to use a hammer and chisel to get through the top 15 inches when you are digging a hole for a fence post .
Cheers Ian

Yep! - I learnt a while back that fence posts etc should go in in the winter when the ground is soft.

Not much help to you tho'.

When i was a young lad my father bought some ground to put his pigeon cot on,not a small piece of ground,my younger brother and myself put in about 40 railway sleepers as posts about 2/3 ft deep, with my father being an ex coal miner, there was no easy way of doing things,no straight down,we had to dig a trench about 4ft long for each post. 50yrs ago and my back still aches.

Buy the following and you will never look back. Just mind your feet when using the digger.

The two Roughneck items cost me about £120 when I bought them - the Toolstation prce is a bargain.
