James @ elite car company in Kingsley near bordon Hampshire
Is a specialist in the v8 models
He hand picks his stock therefore he's not the cheapest option but neither does he sell rubbish
I don't personally know him but my son used to work in the garage that James uses for service and repair and subsequently know how meticulous he is
When he buys any car he rectifys all known weak points and fits the correct oem
Tyres then sells them on only when he's happy he's not going to get any comeback
Looking on his website currently he only has one mk1 for sale
Regards
Chris

"hand picks" LOL.

You mean just offers £5k trade price to anyone stupid enough not to sell privately. Ive personally seen some of the "meticulous" service and repair, and no thanks, I'll stick with private sales.

He's hardly going to offer any more when he's a business, now is he?

I sold my last V8 to Elite cars. It had to go, No.155 spent more time in the workshop than the road. Suffered with HGF, dropped a valve, broke plugs like they were going out of fashion and the car became a good advert for swimming pools. Loved the car but it had to go.

I had already tried to sell on here but with the mounting problems I withdrew it. Tried on eBay just to get rid but no takers. Took it to Elite cars and was given an offer which was fair. Not the greatest but weighed up against what it was going to cost me to repair, I took the offer.

James had the car 3 months before it was sold. It's still around but only comes out at the weekends during the summer. I did get to meet the new owner at MG Live 90.

Default 260s for sale

Yes have seen the Elite cars ads on eBay (found it frustrating that these ads are not actually for specific cars, more like advertsing for his company).

When I've been over to the company website he's never actually been listing any 260s for sale (I know they dont come up for sale often, but I don't agree with this way of using eBay)

Correct,

The market has really dried up for these for a commercial seller.

People are so much more informed than any commercial seller could be, there is little point in paying an extra £3-4k on the trade price for a few paint touch ups, an alloy wheel refurb, and a non-specialist garage to use their own "unique" skills to fix any issues. Of course most people would store the car inside, so you would only find out about all the leaks after you have shelled out. Useful.

The wealth of private owner knowledge now, is such that its actually a detriment to purchase a car from a commerical seller, as most people will have more specific knowledge then they could ever have.

Use your money wisely folks.

It's a one man business, you have to make an appointment to meet or view. All cars are kept under cover behind locked doors. It does not look like a car showroom just a plain white building on a small Ind., Estate.

When I was looking for mine he was going to ring me back about an Estate he had coming in ''later that week''. I rung him after I had heard nothing for a week to be told ''it has already gone''. Apparently I should have rung him earlier!!!!!!

A one man Business is staffed by a very, very, busy man! You've got to cut this type of operation some slack. Good luck to him.

It was James at Elite I bought my car from and a more helpful guy you couldn't get. Even after around four years later he helped me out with a valuation letter for the insurance after I got the car supercharged, extremely helpful
