The box has to come out to fully inspect regardless.
If the car is a keeper, I would budget for a three part clutch & DMF.

Strange ,the bearing in included in the slave !

Engine at idle ,what do you hear while depressing the clutch ?

Where is the "biting point" when you release the pedal ,first gear engaged ?

Mike
The engine tone changes whilst depressing the clutch, there is a rattle which I am sure I can feel through the pedal, the bite starts at about an inch off the floor.

The rattle is abnormal ,i would Watch for evolution .
I think you can improve the biting point by a reverse bleeding

Called the dealer and he said the clutch, master and slave were replaced- make unknown, purchase location unknown, mechanics are off for 6 weeks, however, he could not guarantee that the release bearing had been done at the same time, if it was not in the box then it would not have been.

If the slave was changed, the release bearing will have been changed - they are part of the same unit as Mike indicated earlier. Sounds like they did a pretty bad job of the work if your pedal keeps sinking (this means air in the system, either due to improper bleeding and/or a fluid leak). The rattle could be the new slave falling apart or the DMF.

I am in the office now if you want to call for chat.

Cheers

Pete
