Default Doors clicking, possibly trying to unlock constantly?

A strange fault seems to have occured today, the doors seem to be constantly unlocking themselves, the relay under the glovebox clicks as do the doors, the car won't lock on the fob, or on the very slight chance it does, the alarm goes off after a short period of time.

Can anyone shed any light on this, it's dark now, but I'm thinking water in somewhere? (I gave it a good wash and polish yesterday morning, and haven't been far since...

I remember a 25 that had a problem called "machine gunning" and this sounds similar. Try a 25 forum (maybe MG Rover.org) for info?

Cheers Mike, I'll have a look. It's more or a random click to be honest, can be 5 seconds or 30 between clicks.

I've pulled the fuse on the C/L for now. I've got a long drive tomorrow and could do without the hassle of a flat battery!

Urgh, I'm hoping not! I checked and cleaned, but it was a couple of months ago now...

A couple of suggestions:
Make sure the door panels are secure at the top & not making the lock/unlock button stick.
Disconnect the battery for 30-60mins (make sure you have the code for the head unit - unless you have hi-line or aftermarket).

I've had the same issue on my Outlander ever since I got it, so it's not unique to 75s. I've been told that it's down to water getting into the wiring on one of the doors (in my case the tailgate but I'm damned if I can trace it) and fooling the system into thinking there's a door open that needs to be closed. The first time it happens all the doors lock and then after that it just clunks randomly. It certainly seems to be moisture related as it never does it in warm dry weather or when it's cold enough to freeze. I suspect it's not ECU related as the unit in the Mitsubishi is in a much more sensible position than in the 75 and yet the symptoms remain the same.

That's good to know, and would make sense.

I'll pop the fuse back in and see what happens
