Incredible, glad he got off. I must admit I'm super careful when using car parks, it seems (as this item proves) that the slightest infringement will turn into a fine.

We recently had one because one of our wheels was outside the white line

Pathetic.

They wanted £100 too

Luckily the wife put on a performance akin to Gwenyth Paltrow @ the Oscars and we were luckily let off

On private land, never admit you're the driver & always appeal using POPLA if you're original appeal is declined by the parking company.
I've never lost an appeal yet (mainly for other people).
On public land (Council owned), appeal if you think you are in the right.
You stand less chance of winning on public land unless you have a good case but I have won appeals on three occasions for other people.
It's all about making money I'm afraid & when you realise the annual turnover of these private parking companies & Councils (parking revenue), it's just another hit for the easy target motorist.

These narrow bays are getting ridiculous. I sent an email to the manager of ASDA in Bolton about the ridiculous width of their parking bays and the Beeches Brook size of their speed ramps , you couldn't open the car door wider than a few inches it was impossible to get out of my Rover.

I cancelled my glasses appointment in there with their opticians because I was really ticked off & told them why. I never got a reply from them.

If the car park is operated by an independent contractor, throw the fine in the bin.
It costs them more to pursue it than the claim is worth.

Not very good advice any more I'm afraid.
There was a time when the best thing to do was ignore any PCN (Parking Charge Notice) from a private parking company including any threats of debt collectors & court action.
The law changed & now you ignore them at your peril.

The law didn't change did it?, it was just one of them took someone to court and won. However, unless there are multiple infringements it's still not worth taking to court.

I'm currently ignoring one.

My daughter ignored one too Anna, they kept coming to this address as her old beetle was registered here. I returned the last one in December with not living at this address and have not heard anything since.

Apologies if I misled.
The law did change in 2012 & the advice on ignoring a Parking Charge Notice was no longer recommended by most, if not all of the forums/websites dedicated to fighting these companies.

http://researchbriefings.files.parli...35/SN02235.pdf

I do know people that have chosen to ignore the PCN since 2012 (October) but nearly all have been pursued.
That has to be the choice of the recipient of the PCN though of course.
