This is a very pleasing shot, the tones are spot on, the only thing is, for me, your watermark, draws my eye away. Especially with the greyscale image.

Try this with your watermark. When you set your new layer, in the options, change the 'blend option' to 'Overlay' and adjust the opacity. By doing this, it allows you watermark to blend into the image. Making it difficult to spot at first glance, and also allows you to place the mark subtly into the subject of the image, therefore protecting it from being cropped.

Or just adjust opacity of watermark when exporting from Lightroom.

For best viewing of picture - use no watermark

For most effective watermark against theft - plaster watermark all over the centre of pic in huge letters.

Want your name to be noticed - use tasteful watermark that is visible but attractive to the eye.

For me it was something to do on a slow day. I have no need of a watermark really. (I dropped the opacity on Snowdrop pics it is now less eyecatching but harder to read.)

Warmer weather today so I broke out the bird on a stick gear.

Got this chap. All 3 shots were from a 2 second burst at 11 frames per sec.

I took these whilst sitting on the tractor. You become invisible to wildlife if sitting on a tractor it seems, but get off and everything within 100 yards will run away

I had to use my kit 70-210 as it is the only lens of a longer focal length I have. Shooting around 200mm the aperture is f6.3 so on a dull day getting a fast enough shutter can be a problem. I should have upped the iso a bit but hey ho.

You must have a very steady hand Paul. The detail and colours are amazing.

Thanks Jim. Many of the pics had motion blur if the bird was moving, so as usual I take lots and select just a few good ones. I also always process the images through Lightroom to get the look I am after. I always shoot in RAW so some post processing is always needed.

The lens is stabilized which also helps.

The extra effort involved is definitely worth it when you get results like this.

As we are talking about taking shots low to the ground, here are a few that I am sure I would not have taken with my old DSLR with a non flippy screen. The Sony makes it so easy to flip screen, bend down and just fire away as if looking through the viewfinder.

Nice day today so I got the camera and snapped a Daffodil.
Colour version and a B & W of same pic.
