Might be an idea to check!

To be fair, the Quasar range is one of the lightest, and the 525 looks to be under 1400kg MTPLM so you've got around 200kg in hand
we did check it's weight so I know its not over weight but I cant tell you how heavy it is. it is to heavy for a 52 plate 2L Executive Honda Accord.
just as well or I would not have my CDT

So perhaps the a Lunar or Eldiss may be a better option.
Thanks for the info, its a hard one to know what make to go for, I have heard good and bad about most makes, Coachman seem to be one that a few have recommended without problems, but they are a fortune and very heavy compared to like for like sizes to the other makes, I will have to wait for one of them till I can afford a new Range Rover and Caravan together with a lottery win
Another weekend spent scouring the dealer for the right one, still undecided ...

I towed my Bessacarr 495 SL with a diesel auto. I had the 160 power upgrade which made a big difference to its towing ability. She did very well indeed although I was always as gentle as possible sensing it was quite a strain on the poor girl. The Bessacarr weighs 1290kg unladen.

I tow our Avondale Argente with my diesel auto 75. It has a maximum laden weight of 1290kg, so well within the towing capacity of the 75.

I haven't had the 160 upgrade, still running at the very bog standard 115bhp. I do feel as though on occasion the 75 struggles to keep the caravan up to a constant speed, particularly when navigating any type of hill on the dual carriageway/motorway. Being auto, it tends to rely heavily on 4th gear and even 3rd on occasions, when a manual would happily do it in 5th gear.

Are you looking to buy new or used? If new, check out Adria caravans, built I. Slovenia is Slovakia, marry lightweight range ,until you get to the high spec models, they aren't a rubbish caravan just because they are slightly cheaper than the rest. The newer ones have really nice interiors now. Ours is nine years old,and still looks pretty new, we have had it since new,. It stays that way, because after every use, it gets cleaned inside thoroughly, and outside, including the roof

Mine is quite a bit heavier than that, though a manual, but it handles it very easily. I out pace most solo cars.

I have a Bailey Pageant 2 berth, they have a good reputation and it seems deserved. I have never bought new. This one I bought at 1/3 of the equivalent SH price as an accident damaged (cosmetic) which I subsequently repaired 3 seasons ago for less than a few hundred pounds. It has been fine since, no issues at all - the best bargain I have ever had in caravans, in 50 years of caravanning.

The company I bought it from specialises in recovering and reselling insurance right off caravans - damaged wheel arches, due to burst tyres, hail damage, stolen recovered, flood damaged and etc. - all at brilliant prices if you are able to repair yourself.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I tow an avoidable 556 with my ZT-T diesel it is fairly light weight 6 berth. I may get the 160 upgrade ready for my trip to Germany and Austria in the summer though!

Is this tongue in cheek or an 'avoidable ' spellcheck error ?

A car transporter (or will be). Used my old Rover P4 90 to tow a car transporter loaded with other older Rovers, Triumph Stag, Volvo 240, even other Rover P4s, so see no reason why not do the same with my 75.

However, I realise there are some issues over the weight of what can officially or legally be towed, although this was more difficult to check or enforce when using a much older tow-car for which no data was ever published.
