Default Waxing

For some time I have been using the Autoglym super resin polish followed by Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection. To be fair it has looked pretty good. However, having seen a few posts on here regarding Collinite 845, I thought I would give it a go.

WOW! The shine looks no better than Autoglym Extra Gloss, but when I came to wash the car this week I was amazed. I hosed the car down first to wet it prior to washing, and the water wouldn't stay on the car (small exaggeration), but I have never seen anything like it.

For those who have been using this for a while - how long does it last before you have to put on another coat?

It's a nice wax and being 'creamy' easy to apply/ You should get around 4 months in my opinion.

I have used the Collinite waxes for years in amongst trying others looking for the holy grail!!, I love them all. 915 gives a pleasant warm finish but the best one for winter is 476s which with 2 coats will last a good six months.

If you want the shine of your EGP why not top the wax with something like DoDo Red Mist or DoDo Acrylic spritz, obviously let the wax cure a couple of days or longer first.

And thanks for the tip on the DoDo products.

I use them as well. They may not always be the cheapest source, but they're very reliable, very quick, and extremely helpful if you ever need advice.

I'm also a long time fan of Collinite, and, whilst it may seem expensive at first glance, one large tin of the stuff will last you for years, so very cost effective in the longer term.

476 is a wax not a polish. You can polish first then seal with the wax
