*sigh* such ignorance.
An X type is just a Mondeo... and all K series problems are HGF.

Moving on...

Just looked on Google. Dave Miller Motors, 011 493 8762, assuming he is still there that is.

Whilst I love my 75s and ZTs, I must still defend the X Type. In original form they were all 4 wheel drive, and only 11% Mondeo. The 2.5 produces 14 more bhp , and the 3.0 a further 51. They don't have the looks of the 75, but they handle better and are more economical - particularly the 3.0 the leather quality is much better, and the wood is real.

In truth, they are both great cars.

Just a thought Kaiser, can you not source a modulator from the UK?

There are plenty of these things being broken due to fizzling away with tinworm on our shores

Oh, and it is a JF906E gearbox in there, and how do we know that? because the clutch packs replaced in a 75 V6 not so long back came from a X-type in the knackers yard

More information HERE

I know a a mate with 2008 x-type 2,5 petrol, 196 Hp and the autobox is Jatco JF506E, identical with our 75 autobox. What was strange with this box, that Jaguar recommend mineral ATF oil and he is using in his box Dexron III oil without problems I think in the UK you can use N402

...ooops you a not in the UK

I have run my 1.8T on a Castrol ATF, which claimed to be compatible both with MERCON and DEXRON.
I have had no issues at all.

see in particular post 24.

Interesting if it is indeed the same box in the Jaguar and the Rover. The shifting delay in the Rover feels excessive and far too disturbing. The Jaguar is virtually seamless and much quicker.

Must have to do with the change in ignition during shifting, I would guess. It would also mean that this shift can be improved, somehow, in the Rovers.
Interesting.

The X-type is a nice car. I was pretty close to buy one to not long ago, but ended up with a LR Freelander 2 due to the need of more cabin space for 3 kidz.

I would do a google search regarding the ABS module. There are several companies around the world that refurb these units for small money. I had a similar issue with a -99 Passat I had once, and that module was sent to the states and refurbed. It returned with a 5 year warranty and they claimed it was then better than new!!

P.S.

I did a quick search. Take a look here: http://www.shop.modulerepairpro.com/...XTY-03-ABS.htm

I think it was actually this company that repaired my module 7 years ago.

Nonetheless I suppose there must be plenty who are more than happy with them, so good luck to the happy ones.
An X Type is a Mondeo in just the same way that all 75s suffer from head gasket failure.
