I'm sure you will end up buying another one day, I did after selling my two wedgewood blue 75's. I swore I would never buy another, but here I am today with two ZT's.

May I ask... how did the insurance company worm they way out of paying?
Apparently 'social & domestic' etc no longer covers to and from work! Im normally very astute with these things but they had worded it very (how shall I put it....) carefully

That's bad luck. For what it's worth, it would be worth putting in an appeal (if you haven't already). I'm pretty certain that I've read somewhere that the insurer has to prove that the non-disclosure would make a material difference to the cover - i.e. had they been aware at the time of quote they would have declined cover. The difference between SD&P and SD&P incl commuting from a permanent place of work must be negligible.

Worth a punt as you've nothing to lose.

On that insurance thing. If the police had stopped you whilst you were driving to work, could they nab you for no insurance?
I would have thought that most people drive their cars to and from work, but not use them for work which is different.
Which company was it so we can all avoid.

Can of Worms springs to mind on this insurance thing. Just Googled it and it would appear that most Social domestic and Pleasure policies cover you to and from your place of work, but not all, so those of you who are still working best to double check cos if they can wriggle out of paying they will.
One thing I did spot was this:-

"A broker/insurer is under a duty of care to ensure the insurance product
they sell you is suitable for your needs and should issue you with a Statement of Demands and Needs, which covers ALL the relevant points on how the vehicle is to be used etc and you should have been taken through this and given a copy."

I would suggest if they had done this then you may not have taken that policy out, just a thought.

I wouldn't rely on google.

It's been quite some time since ''excluding commuting'' appeared.

I blame the comparisson websites - in a bid to make their quotes seem more attractive they stripped policies to bare bones by making everything an additional extra.

Social and domestic - no problem - £x

Social and domestic with commuting £x +£y

Such a shame for scaramanger, but by no means unusual

Sorry to hear about your situation Lee, I'm sure you were an excellent custodian of the Fifth Gear car. Hopefully you'll be back in another 75 in the near future and as others have said, be good if you stayed around on the forum

Only had my 75 for a fortnight now but already luv her to bits

As for insurance . . well without turning this into a saga, my 416 insurer didn't insure me to and from work.
But with the 75 it's one in the eye for Harold as my new insurer lets me drive to and from a permanent place of work.
You got to shop around I'm afraid.
